BOSTON — Third baseman
Evan Giordano went 4-for-4 with a run scored on Sunday afternoon, helping his Seawolves win the series at UMBC and he earned America East Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday.
This was part of a 7-for-11 weekend the Sewell, N.J., native put together that rose his batting average to .315 for the year, the second-highest mark he's been at this season. He added two doubles and a solo home run, finishing with a 1.805 OPS en route to the weekend victory over the Retrievers.
On the year, Giordano's batting clip has him second on the team, along with his 26 RBI and .528 slugging percentage. His .955 OPS leads the squad, along with his .388 batting average in league games.
It is the second weekly honor of the year for the 2021 First Team All-League and Second Team All-Region selection, joining his efforts to lead to a sweep of UMass Lowell.
Stony Brook returns to the field tomorrow to begin four-game road trip, taking on Fairfield at 3 p.m., in Fairfield. The Seawolves head to Newark, N.J., on Friday night, taking on NJIT for a three-game set.
