STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's lacrosse graduate midfielder Chris Merle has earned a spot on the Archers' 25-man roster in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). Merle and the Archers begin the 2022 season on Sunday, June 5, at 3:45 p.m., against the Chrome on ESPN+.

"We are really excited for Chris on making the 25-man roster for the Archers. Chris is one of the most competitive and toughest players I have ever coached. I am excited to see him compete in the PLL this year and hopefully many years to after," said Stony Brook head coach Anthony Gilardi.

Merle came to Stony Brook prior to this season after he concluded his undergraduate career at Virginia. In 14 games this season, the defensive midfielder tallied four points (three goals, one assist), picked up 33 ground balls, and caused 11 turnovers.

The Westhampton Beach native scored his first career goal in the Seawolves' 13-12 opening day win over Fairfield on February 12. Merle picked up a season-high six ground balls in Stony Brook's 17-9 win over UMass Lowell in the conference opener on March 16. He caused a season-best three turnovers at Albany on March 26.

Merle ranked fourth on the team in ground balls and third in caused turnovers.
