RICHMOND, Va. - With the 2023 men's lacrosse season just a couple of weeks away, the Colonial Athletic Association released its Preseason Poll on Tuesday. The Seawolves were picked to finish fourth based on a vote by the league's eight head coaches.

Stony Brook came in fourth in the poll with a total of 32 points. The defending CAA champion Delaware Blue Hens were picked as the preseason favorite to win the league, with a total of 49 points and seven first-place votes. Towson and Drexel were also picked to finish ahead of the Seawolves, with the Tigers earning one first-place vote.

Hofstra, Fairfield, Monmouth, and Hampton rounded out the eight-team preseason poll, respectively. 

The conference also announced its 2023 Preseason All-CAA selections, with three Seawolves garnering honors.

Senior attack Dylan Pallonetti, who led the team in goals and was an All-America East First Team selection last year, earned Preseason All-CAA honors. Graduate midfielder Matt Anderson, who was an All-America East Second Team selection last year, also landed on the Preseason All-CAA Team. Senior defender Michael Sabella earned Preseason All-CAA honorable mention honors.

Stony Brook gets the 2023 season underway on Saturday, February 11, when it travels to Piscataway, New Jersey, to take on No. 10 Rutgers at 1 p.m. The upcoming schedule is highlighted by seven home games at LaValle Stadium, including meetings with two preseason top 25 teams in No. 12 Brown (March 4) and No. 14 Delaware (April 15).
 
Following a pair of road games at Rutgers and Penn State to start the season, the Seawolves will return home for a three-game homestand against Air Force, Sacred Heart, and Brown.

Stony Brook will open CAA play for the first time in program history at Hampton on March 18. The Seawolves' first CAA home contest against Towson will face-off at noon on April 1.
