STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook University men's soccer fell in its final non-conference contest of the regular season, 3-2, to Lafayette on Tuesday night at LaValle Stadium. Jonas Bickus tallied his team-leading eighth goal of the season and Bas Beckhoven netted his first goal of the year in the loss on senior night.
Stony Brook opened the scoring on Bickus' 24th minute strike, assisted by Trevor Harrison and Alex Fleury.
The Leopards responded to make it a 1-1 game on a goal from Max Fujimori in the 29th minute, assisted by Connor Deangelis and Beaux Lizewski. Lafayette then grabbed a 2-1 lead on Carter Houlihan's 51st-minute goal, assisted by Deangelis. The Seawolves would rally to knot things up at 2-2 with a 59th-minute goal from Beckhoven, his first goal of the season, off a failed clear from a Lafayette defender inside the box.
Lafayette busted up the 2-2 draw on Andrey Mcintyre's goal in the 71st minute, assisted by Lawrence Aydlett, which would prove to be the difference in the match.
STATS AND NOTES
- Bickus' goal was his team-leading eighth of the season and he now leads the team with 17 points this year (eight goals, one assist).
- Curtis Copenhaver made his second start in goal for the Seawolves, facing 19 shots and matching a career-high with seven saves. Six of Copenhaver's seven saves came during the first half of action.
- Beckhoven's goal was his first of his senior season and the second of his collegiate career.
- Harrison had the primary assist on Bickus' goal, his third helper of the season. Harrison's 13 points (five goals, three assists) are third most on the team.
- Fleury registered his fourth assist of his rookie campaign; the freshman's four assists are tied with Olsen Aluc and Lorenzo Selini for second-most on the squad.
- Stony Brook ends the regular season with a 5-4-1 mark at home. The five wins at LaValle are tied for its most in the past decade, with the squad having secured five home victories in four seasons in the past 10 years (2021, 2018, 2017 and 2015).

"I thought there were moments in the game where we played well, I thought we started the game off very well. I thought we let up a little after the first goal and allowed them to get back in the game," head coach Ryan Anatol commented postgame. "I thought the second half was a little too open. We've got to do a little better job defending."

Stony Brook hits the road to face William & Mary on Friday night in the regular season finale. The Seawolves, tied atop the CAA table with Hofstra and Monmouth, will look to secure a top-two spot and a bye in the CAA postseason heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. in Virginia between Stony Brook and William & Mary.
