MOUNT PLEASANT, SC -- The Stony Brook women's soccer team and Charleston played to a hard-fought 1-1 draw this afternoon at Patriots Point.
Both teams battled back and forth in the first half as the the teams traded multiple shots in the first 10 minutes. Gabrielle Côté and Ashley Bell tallied shots in the opening minutes but were ultimately saved by goalkeeper Bailey Wood.
Nicolette Pasquarella kept the Cougars at ease in the first half by tallying four saves in the first 45 minutes.
Following the break, Stony Brook opened the scoring when
Linn Beck scored her third goal of the season in the 48th minute on a long-distance shot that Beck rocketed from nearly 40 yards away.
The Cougars leveled the game on a goal from Delaney Dawes in the 72nd minute, assisted by Shea Vidovic. The teams traded three shots in the final 15 minutes but the 1-1 score held to the end of the match.
GAME NOTES
- Nicolette Pasquarella totaled seven saves for the Seawolves out of 16 total Cougars shots. She now has at least seven saves in three of her last five matches and leads in the CAA in total saves with 53.
- Linn Beck tallied her third goal of the season and first since Sept. 10 against Hampton. She now has nine for her career and is third on the team in goals.
- The Seawolves tallied seven saves compared to the three by the Cougars.
- The squad had three corner kicks compared to the two by Charleston.
- Stony Brook and Charleston have tied in both their meetings all-time.
- Stony Brook moved to 4-5-5 overall and 2-4-3 in CAA play after the draw.
