PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Stony Brook University men's basketball team fell on the road at Duquesne, 85-63, on Monday evening. Aaron Clarke scored a season-high 22 points, knocking down five shots from beyond the arc.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves opened up the contest with a 6-2 lead early on, thanks to a trey from Clarke and a three-point play from Chris Maidoh. The two sides would trade baskets back and forth, seeing the lead change hands five times in the opening six minutes of action. Andrei Savrasov buried a triple with just over 12 minutes to play, giving the Dukes a lead that they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest.
After falling behind 19-11, Stony Brook scored six straight points, culminating with another three from Clarke, to narrow its deficit to two points. Duquesne responded, building up a 35-26 advantage entering the half.
Duquesne constructed a 15-point advantage with 16 minutes to play before Stony Brook went on another 6-0 run, capped off by a three from Tyler Stephenson-Moore, to pull back within single digits of the Dukes. The Seawolves hung around, keeping within nine points of Duquesne up until the nine-minute mark of the second half.
Duquesne outscored Stony Brook 27-18 over the final nine minutes of action, shooting 10-of-20 from the floor and connecting on six trifectas down the stretch to ultimately pull away and secure the victory.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Duquesne played terrific offensively tonight. We shot poorly in the first half, but responded with a good second half offensively," head coach Geno Ford said. "Our defense wasn't good enough to stay attached as the game wore on. That's an excellent basketball team we played tonight and hopefully we can respond and play better on both ends Wednesday at Nebraska."
