12/12/2023 10:30:00 AM

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook softball, in coordination with head coach Megan Bryant, unveiled its 2024 schedule on Tuesday. The Seawolves open the season with tournaments at Florida International, UMBC and the University of the Pacific and begin conference play at home on March 8.

"We are excited about this schedule and the quality of competition we will be facing in 2024. With a veteran team, it's important that we are challenged early and often," Bryant said. "Our group has high goals for this season and we will be ready for year two in the CAA."

The Seawolves officially return to action on February 9 in Miami, Florida, playing at least five contests over the course of the weekend at the Felsberg Invitational hosted by FIU. Stony Brook faces Southeast Missouri State in its season opener, followed by a matchup with Ohio State later in the day. The Seawolves then face the host Panthers before the field of four is re-seeded for at least two more contests against opponents still to be determined.

Stony Brook then heads back north for a two-day, weekend tournament at UMBC. The Seawolves take on Morgan State, Holy Cross and the host Retrievers on February 17-18 before heading out to the West Coast.

The Seawolves wrap up non-conference tournament play at the Libby Matson Tournament hosted by the University of the Pacific from February 23-25. Stony Brook is set to face Nevada and Pacific, along with another major conference opponent in Creighton during the three-day invitational to conclude its February slate.

The month of March opens with a road trip to our nation's capital for a double header at George Washington on March 2. The following day, Stony Brook busses it to Fairfax, Virginia for two games at George Mason in preparation for the opening weekend of CAA play.

Conference play begins at University Field for Stony Brook with a three-game series against Campbell, the newest member of the league, on March 8-10. The Camels won 42 games a season ago, were crowned Big South Champions for the third consecutive season and earned an NCAA Regional win in Durham, North Carolina over George Mason.

The following weekend sees the Seawolves travel down to Charleston for a three-game series with the Cougars before returning home to begin a stretch that features eight of its next nine games on its home field, including five straight.

The aforementioned stretch of home contests begins with a mid-week doubleheader against Manhattan on March 20, followed by a three-game, weekend series with Delaware. After a mid-week trip to South Orange, New Jersey for a meeting with Seton Hall, Stony Brook returns to University Field to host Towson in a three-game series to close out the month of March.

April begins with a weekend road trip down the Shore to face off with Monmouth. Following three games with the Hawks, Stony Brook heads back home for three more non-conference contests, two against Sacred Heart and one with St. John's. The three mid-week, non-conference games precede a trip to Nassau for a weekend series with the defending champion Hofstra Pride on April 12-14.

On April 17, Stony Brook welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson for a mid-week doubleheader ahead of its home series with Drexel that weekend. The Seawolves conclude non-conference play at Iona on April 23 before hosting Elon later that week in its final home series of the regular season. League play then concludes on the road at North Carolina A&T, opening up the month of May.

The 2024 CAA Championships begin May 8 and run until May 11. The Seawolves will look to build off of an impressive run through the conference tournament a year ago in its first season in the CAA.
