RICHMOND, Va. - The CAA announced its Men's Cross Country Major Award winners for the 2023 season, with Stony Brook's Collin Gilstrap earning Rookie of the Year honors, while head coach Andy Ronan was voted Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

In his first season on the Island, Gilstrap made his presence felt as the top-finishing freshman at the CAA Championships, helping the Seawolves defend its title in its second season as a member of the conference. He placed ninth overall individually at the CAA Championships, earning All-CAA distinction. Earlier in the season, Gilstrap was the individual winner in the 8K at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh. He concluded his season at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, covering his first-ever collegiate 10K in 30:49.2 for a 66th-place finish.

Ronan collected his second consecutive CAA Coach of the Year nod, directing the Stony Brook program to a second consecutive CAA Men's Cross Country Championship. Under his guidance, a league-high six runners earned All-CAA recognition with four Seawolves finishing inside the top-10. As a team, Stony Brook went on to compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships and finished ninth overall, with Carlos Santos Jr. earning All-Region honors.
