Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The No. 5/6 Stony Brook women's lacrosse team (3-0) secured its third consecutive win of the season with a 19-3 victory over San Diego State (1-5) on Wednesday at Aztec Lacrosse Field.
The Seawolves scored a season high 19 goals and received contributions from 11 different student-athletes. The 19 goals mark the most goals scored since Stony Brook totaled 20 against UMBC on April 23, 2022.
The squad was led by junior midfielder,
Ellie Masera who tallied four goals for the second time this season (four against No. 18 Michigan on Feb. 17). The CAA Player of the Week,
Kailyn Hart, followed behind Masera, recording her second hat trick of the season.

Morgan Mitchell all registered a pair of goals in the contest. Adding to the Seawolves dominant offense were senior midfielders

Kylie Budke and freshman attacker
Zoey Kruger.
Stony Brook got off to its hottest start of the season, going on a 5-0 run in the first quarter that was sparked by Hampel finding the back of the cage within the first 30 seconds of the game. The Seawolves would hold on to the 5-0 lead until San Diego State's Emma Betts picked up the Aztecs' first goal of the contest with 6:04 left to play in the first quarter.
Despite San Diego State's goal, Stony Brook would go on another 5-0 run to enter the quarter break with a 10-1 lead. The squad would not let up as they outscored the Aztecs 6-0 in the next two quarters.
With 14:04 left to play in the fourth quarter, Kruger found the back of the net for the first time in her career to give the Seawolves a 17-1 lead, their largest margin of the contest and the season. The Aztecs would register two more goals in the fourth quarter before Stony Brook would ultimately secure the victory, 19-3.
STATS AND NOTES
- Masera led the Seawolves' offense with four goals, marking the second time this season the midfielder has tallied four makes (four against No. 18 Michigan on Feb. 17). With the four goals, Masera now extends her goal scoring streak to 20 consecutive games.
- Hart registered three goals and one assist. It marked the second time this season and the 20th time in her career that the attacker has recorded a hat trick.
- Morgan Mitchell dished out a career-high four assists and added two goals to record a career-high tying six points on the day.
- Creo's pair of goals mark the graduate's first goals of the season and first makes as a Seawolf. LoNigro's pair are a new career high for the graduate.
- Kruger and Budke tallied their first career goals and first collegiate points.
- The 19 goals are the most scored by the Seawolves this season and the most scored since the squad recorded 20 against UMBC on April 23,2022.
- Stony Brook's defense held the Aztecs to only three goals, the lowest amount an opponent has reached against the squad this season and the second lowest San Diego State has tallied this season (scored two goals at Notre Dame on Feb. 10).
