WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Stony Brook men's track and field team competed in the final day of the Monmouth Spring Opener on Sunday.
Senior
Patrick Abel added another victory to his breakout year, securing a first-place finish in the 100 meter with a final time of 10.74. Abel also earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 meter with a final time of 21.69.
Junior
Alex Kanes added a top five finish for the Seawolves with a fourth-place finish and a new personal best in the long jump with a final mark of 6.85m.
Graduate
Miles Ryan rounded out the top five finishes for Stony Brook with a fifth-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles. Ryan crossed the line in 59.04.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Abel secured a first-place finish in the 100 meter with a final time of 10.74. Abel also earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 meter with a final time of 21.69.
- Kanes earned a fourth-place finish and a new personal best in the long jump with a final mark of 6.85m.
- Ryan crossed the line in 59.04 which was good for a fifth-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles.
- Graduate Joshua Titus secured a seventh-place finish in the 110 meter hurdles with a final time of 15.47. Dolapo Babalola and Seth Hilario followed behind Titus in 10th and 11th place, respectively.
- Aleks Zdravkovic clocked in at 49.74 which was good for a seventh-place finish in the 400 meter.
- Gavin Da Vanzo earned a 10th place finish in the long jump with a final mark of 6.23m.
- Eben Bragg recorded a 12th place finish in the 1500 meter with a final time of 4:05.52. Michael Hawkes rounded out the top 25 and earned a new personal best with a final time of 4:08.44.
- Justin Vazquez earned a top 15 finish in the 100 meter with a final time of 11.22.
NEXT UP
Stony Brook is back on the track next weekend (March 31 – April 1) when it travels down to Williamsburg, Va. to compete in the Colonial Relays.
