Men’s Track & Field Earns Three Top 10 Finishes at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Stony Brook men's track and field competed at the Penn Relays on April 27-29 at Franklin Field.
 
Graduate Robert Becker highlighted the meet for the Seawolves with an eighth-place overall finish in the 1500 Meter Championship division with a final time of 3:43.85.
 
Senior Shane Henderson also earned a top 10 finish on Thursday evening with a ninth-place overall finish in the 5000 Meter Championship division. Henderson clocked in at 13:55.36.
 
The Distance Medley Relay squad comprised of Becker, Miles Ryan, Aiden Smyth, and Conor Malanaphy secured a 10th palce overall finish with a final combined time of 9:53.96 on Friday.
 
DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Becker earned an eighth-place overall finish in the 1500 Meter Championship division with a final time of 3:43.85.
  • Henderson secured a ninth-place overall finish in the 5000 Meter Championship division. Henderson clocked in at 13:55.36.
  • Smyth also competed in the 1500 meter while Colin Ross also competed in the 5000 meter.
DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS
  • The 4x100 relay team made up of Patrick Abel, Justin Vazquez, Joshua Titus, and Nicolas Lavazoli earned a top 20 finish in the preliminaries with a final time of 43.90.
  • The Distance Medley Relay squad comprised of Becker, Ryan, Smyth, and Malanaphy secured a 10th palce overall finish with a final combined time of 9:53.96.
  • The 4x400 relay squad secured a top 15 finish in the preliminaries with a combined final time of 9:53.96. The team was made up of Abel, Aleks Zdravkovic, Ryan, and Vazquez.
 
NEXT UP
The Seawolves return to the track May 5-6 when they travel to Williamsburg, Va. to compete in their first-ever CAA Championships.
