RICHMOND, Va. – For the first time in his career, Stony Brook men's lacrosse graduate midfielder Matt Anderson has been named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Hofstra on Saturday night, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Anderson becomes the fourth student-athlete to receive a CAA weekly honor and third different player to receive the CAA Offensive Player of the Week award (Dylan Pallonetti and Noah Armitage). 

In the 11-10 victory over the Pride that secured the programs first-ever berth into the CAA Tournament, Anderson led the team by tallying a career-high tying four goals. The Canadian also tallied an assist to finish the night with five points, the most by any player on the field. 

Anderson proved to be the offensive spark as he scored the first goal of the game, final score of the first half, first score of the second half, and ultimately the winning goal after sparking the 7-1 run that gave the Seawolves a 10-5 advantage and ultimately the victory. Anderson's game winner marked the 80th goal of his career. The four goals by the graduate marked his sixth hat trick of the season, 13th of his career, and seventh multi-goal game of the season. 

This season, Anderson has tallied at least one point in every game and recorded multiple points in 12 of the 14 games that he has appeared in. He has set a new career-high in goals (28), assists (13), shots (78), shots on goal (51) and ground balls (12). He is currently second on the team in goals, points, and shots. 
 
The Seawolves will return to the field this week when they head to Newark, Del. to compete in the CAA Tournament. The squad enters as the No. 3 seed and will play No. 2 seeded Drexel in the semifinals on Thursday, May 4th at 8:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on LacrosseTV.
