STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team was honored for its academic success as it captured the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Team Academic award. Additionally, five Seawolves earned USILA Scholar All-American honors as announced by the organization.

Stony Brook captured the USILA Team Academic award for earning a cumulative GPA of above 3.0 for the 2022-23 academic year. Christian Lowd, Dylan Pallonetti, Matt Anderson, Michael Sabella, and Noah Armitage were the five Seawolves who took home USILA Scholar All-American accolades.

"Our program claiming the USILA Team Academic Award is a credit to the hard work by not only our entire team but also our academic support staff of Laura Lestrange and Ryan Jacobson. We are extremely proud of our five seniors for being recognized as Scholar Academic All-Americans. Christian, Dylan, Matt, Michael, and Noah have been elite players on the field and in the classroom and we are excited for their discipline and dedication to be rewarded," said head coach Anthony Gilardi.

The five Scholar All-Americans were the most of any CAA men's lacrosse program this season. Delaware had the next most Scholar All-Americans of any CAA school with four, while Drexel had three, Towson had two, and Hofstra placed one.

The USILA Scholar All-America program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically, and as citizens in their local communities. The USILA Selection Committee chooses three overall teams from Divisions I, III, and III.

A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and must be a student with at least a senior year academic standing with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Stony Brook was one of 37 Division I institutions from around the nation to receive the USILA Team All-Academic award.
