Stony Brook Men's and Women's Soccer Programs Earn United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Stony Brook men's and women's soccer programs were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches with the Team Academic Award for their exemplary performance inside the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year.

The distinction goes to those programs who achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. A total of 826 teams (321 men, 505 women) earned the award. Stony Brook is one of 189 programs nationwide that had both its men's and women's programs recognized.

Under the leadership of head coach Ryan Anatol, the Stony Brook men's team posted a 3.37 grade point average. Last season, Jonas Bickus was named the SUNY Scholar Athlete of the Year. Bickus is a business management major maintaining a 3.71 GPA.

The Stony Brook women's program, led by Tobias Bischof, boasted a 3.54 team grade point average. The Seawolves had four student-athletes (Kerry Pearson, Rachael Peters, Madison Sleiman and Catharina von Drigalski) named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Returners Pearson and von Drigalski have been recognized on the Dean's List by Stony Brook University in every semester of their respective collegiate careers.
