STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University men's basketball team fell to Hofstra, 71-64, on Monday evening at Island Federal Arena. Dean Noll matched a season-high with 19 points and Andre Snoddy posted a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 15-4 early, Stony Brook went on a 15-0 run with 12:56 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Noll, to take a 19-15 lead.
The Seawolves then added one point to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 37-32 advantage. Stony Brook did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 20 of its 37 points close to the basket.
Hofstra then erased the Stony Brook lead in the game's final quarter for an 80-74 comeback victory. Stony Brook made the most of eight offensive rebounds to tack on 10 second chance points out of 37 total in the period.
STATS AND NOTES
- Snoddy posted the first double-double of his Stony Brook career, scoring a season-high 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. He shot 8-of-9 from the field and four of his 11 boards were on the offensive glass.
- Noll's 19 matched a season-high, previously set in the victory over William & Mary. He scored 13 of his 19 points in the first half and was a perfect 5-for-5 at the free throw line.
- Chris Maidoh (12 points) and Aaron Clarke (11 points) were the Seawolves' other scorers in double-figures. Maidoh grabbed seven rebounds and Clarke contributed a team-high three assists.
- The Pride shot 64% from the floor and 62.5% from beyond the arc in the second half, outscoring the Seawolves 48-37.
- As a team, Stony Brook shot 5-for-22 from three-point range, while Hofstra connected on 10 shots from long range.
