PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Stony Brook men's basketball team fell to Brown on Wednesday afternoon, 77-54. Joe Octave led all scorers with a season-best 24 points, but it was not enough to overcome an efficient shooting performance by the Bears.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a back-and-forth scoring exchange between the two sides over the opening three minutes of action, Stony Brook cooled off and Brown heated up. The Bears opened up a 16-point lead, 21-5, to force a Seawolves' timeout at the 12:13 mark.
- Stony Brook managed to whittle the early deficit to 11 points, but couldn't pull within single digits of Brown. The Bears lead grew to 21 points with just over five minutes remaining in the period.
- Brown maintained its sizable advantage down the stretch in the first half, taking a 43-24 lead into the locker room. Octave accounted for 17 of the Seawolves' 24 first-half points
- The Seawolves battled back, bringing their deficit to 13 points on a few occasions in the early portion of the second half before Brown pushed the advantage back to 20-plus points.
- The Bears' lead ballooned to 30 points with six-and-a-half minutes remaining. Stony Brook ultimately fell, 77-54, to Brown.
