STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook Baseball's all-time stolen base leader is returning to Long Island, as head coach Matt Senk has announced the addition of Evan Fox ('24) to the coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach.

During his illustrious playing career with the Seawolves, Fox recorded a .298 batting average across 682 at-bats, amassing 203 hits, 106 RBIs, 45 doubles, 18 home runs, and nine triples, while scoring 166 runs. A true base-stealing threat, Fox swiped 108 bases over four years, setting a program record. As a junior, he shattered the school's single-season stolen base record, previously held by Travis Jankowski, with an impressive 39 steals.

The speedster made an immediate impact in his rookie season, helping the Seawolves to consecutive America East Regular Season titles in 2021 and 2022. In 2021, he earned America East Rookie of the Week honors three times and was named to the All-Rookie Team. He appeared in 44 games (43 starts) that season, recording 35 hits, one home run, 18 RBIs, and a team-leading 21 stolen bases — the sixth-most by any freshman in the nation. In his sophomore campaign, Fox started all 46 games, collecting hits in 35 of them and reaching base safely in 41. He finished the year with a .322 batting average and a career-best .430 on-base percentage.

Fox's standout 2023 season saw him finish second in the nation in stolen bases and dominate as Stony Brook's leadoff hitter. He earned All-CAA First Team honors after posting a career-high .333 batting average and leading the team with a .429 on-base percentage. His conference play performance was particularly notable, where he ranked third in the CAA with a .383 average. Fox started the year by reaching base in 31 consecutive games and finished the season reaching safely in 49 of his 50 starts.

In 2024, he capped his collegiate career by earning All-CAA honors for the second consecutive season and the third time overall. He ranked among the top five on the team in 12 offensive categories, including runs scored (35), hits (44), RBIs (24), doubles (11), home runs (4), total bases (67), and stolen bases (17). He also recorded the team's longest hitting streak of the season, hitting safely in 11 straight games from March 15 to April 12.

The New York native leaves an indelible mark on the program's record books. He is the all-time leader in stolen bases (108), tied for second in runs scored (166), 10th in doubles (45), and 11th in triples (9).
