Aidan Kaler Returns to Stony Brook Football Program

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University football team, led by head coach Billy Cosh, announced the signing of linebacker Aidan Kaler back to the program this afternoon.

Kaler, a Long Island native, rejoins the Seawolves after spending one season at the University of Charlotte. During his time with the 49ers, Kaler appeared in 11 games, recording 14 tackles. His season highlight came on October 19, when he registered five tackles in a game against Navy.

Kaler previously played four seasons with Stony Brook, making a significant impact during his tenure. In his final season, he was voted team captain and earned All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Honorable Mention and Phil Steele Third Team All-CAA honors. He was also recognized as a William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist.

In 2023, Kaler led the Seawolves with 81 tackles, ranking seventh in the CAA. He posted double-digit tackles in four games and recorded at least five tackles in nine contests. He ended his season with tackles for loss in three of the final four games.

Over the course of his career at Stony Brook, Kaler accumulated 142 tackles, including 88 solo tackles and 54 assisted tackles. He also recorded 9.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries. Off the field, Kaler excelled academically, earning a spot on the CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll every year he was with the Seawolves.
