STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook University football players
Roland Dempster and
Rushawn Lawrence have added another milestone to their standout seasons, as FCS Central announced this week that both have been named to the 2024 FCS All-America team.
This marks the third All-American honor this week for Dempster after he was named an AP Second Team All-American and Second Team Stats Perform All-American. Lawrence earns his second All-American title this week as he was named a Third Team Stats Perform All-American, respectively.
Dempster's 2024 campaign was nothing short of historic. The Walter Payton Award finalist and First Team All-CAA recipient rushed for a career-high 1,332 yards on 268 carries and tallied 18 touchdowns. In addition, he contributed 32 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his versatility. Nationally, Dempster ranked third in the FCS and second in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in total touchdowns. He also led the CAA in total rushing yards and rushing yards per game, finishing in the top five nationally in both categories, while ranking ninth in all-purpose yards per game.His 2024 totals include the fourth-highest single-season rushing yardage, the second-most rushing touchdowns, and the third-most total touchdowns in program history.
On the defensive side, Lawrence emerged as a force for Stony Brook, earning First Team All-CAA honors. The veteran lineman recorded 8.0 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss, leading the team in both categories and ranking fourth in the CAA in sacks. Lawrence also set career highs in tackles (42), interceptions (1), forced fumbles (2), and pass deflections (2). Among his standout performances were a two-sack, one-interception outing against Fordham and a two-sack, two-forced-fumble effort in a win over Towson.
