Nicholas Solorzano singled in the top of the ninth to drive home the game-winning run as Stony Brook baseball rallied from behind to take a 3-2 victory at Seton Hall in New Jersey on Saturday.

Stony Brook went above .500 for the first time this season at 9-8 while Seton Hall dropped to 10-8.

Stony Brook got three singles and a walk from graduate student
Brett Paulsen along with two singles from Solorzano. Five others recorded one hit each on the day. Paulsen, junior
Evan Goforth and graduate student
Cam Santerre each scored a run. Sophomore
Evan Fox provided two RBIs along with Solorzano's game-winning RBI.

On the mound, freshman
Nicholas Rizzo allowed just four hits and two runs, going five innings with a strikeout and two walks. Graduate student
Ty Saunders (W, 1-3) finished the game with four scoreless innings on just two hits allowed, striking out four.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Seton Hall got on the board in the bottom of the first, taking a 2-0 lead on an RBI triple followed by an RBI single on the next hitter.
- The Seawolves loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the second, but two strikeouts and a flyout ended the rally.
- Stony Brook loaded the bases on two singles and a walk in the sixth. Fox singled through the left side to plate Paulsen and Goforth to tie the game.
- In the top of the ninth, Paulsen walked and then advanced to second and third on consecutive groundouts. Solorzano then singled through the right side and beat the shift for the two-out RBI.
- Saunders set down the Pirates in order in the bottom of the ninth.
STATS AND NOTES
- Paulsen's three hits tied his season high (Feb. 23 at LSU).
- Each of Stony Brook's last six victories have been by one run. SBU had just one one-run victory all of last season.
- Stony Brook pitching has combined to throw 17 of 18 scoreless innings in this series.
- Saunders had his first scoreless outing of the season in Saturday's effort.
