STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook women's basketball head coach Ashley Langford has been selected for the annual Advancement of Blacks In Sports (ABIS) Basketball Coaches Watch List as announced by the organization. It marks the third time in her career that she was tabbed to the ABIS Watch List.

ABIS showcases the standout Black men and women head, associate and assistant coaches to watch from the NCAA. This year's roster includes 29 head coaches and 49 promising associate and assistant coaches hailing from mid-level and major NCAA basketball programs.

In her third season with the Seawolves, Langford earned her first CAA Coach of the Year honor and led the program to their first-ever CAA Regular Season Championship.

Coach Langford also earned the program's first-ever CAA Coach of the Year accolade for the squad's performance in their second year in the league. Also, Gigi Gonzalez earned CAA Player of the Year and All-CAA First Team, while Sherese Pittman and Khari Clark were tabbed to the All-CAA Second Team.

Earlier in the season, Langford became the fastest coach in program history to reach 50 wins and became one of 10 coaches in the nation to be selected for the mid-season watch list for the 2024 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award.

At the conclusion of the regular season for Stony Brook, the squad ranked top-15 in numerous categories for the NCAA such as scoring margin (12th), winning percentage (6th) defensive rebounds per game (5th), three-point percentage (2nd) and field goal percentage defense (2nd). The Seawolves also led the CAA in assists per game, field goal percentage, free-throw percentage, and rebounds per game.

The Seawolves are currently 27-4 (16-2 CAA) and ended their regular season by making the CAA Championship for the first time in program history, falling to Drexel. The squad was selected to participate in the inaugural WBIT postseason tournament and will head to Virginia to battle No. 1 James Madison University on Thursday at 7 p.m.
