STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's basketball announced the addition of Joe Octave (Guard, 6-4, Gardena, Calif.) to the program. Octave announced his commitment to Stony Brook on Wednesday.

An All-Patriot League Third Team honoree in 2023-24, Octave joins the Seawolves after two seasons at Holy Cross. Over the course of two seasons with the Crusaders, Octave played in 60 games and averaged 13.3 points per game, shooting better than 43 percent from the field and better than 31 percent from three-point range. He also eclipsed 1,000 career points this past season at Holy Cross.

"We are thrilled to add Joe to our program. He has played at a high-level in the Mountain West Conference and was one of the best players in the Patriot league this past season," head coach Geno Ford said. "He is a proven scorer that will add play making to our offense and we are excited about his versatility and rebounding on the defensive end of the floor. He will make a big impact with his leadership and experience."

Octave posted career-high marks in field goals made (153), free throws made (111), free throw percentage (72.1%), points (453), rebounds (185) and assists (59) as a senior at Holy Cross. Octave scored a career-high 33 points in a victory at Georgetown, including the game-winning three pointer with less than a minute to play. Octave scored at least 20 points in 10 games during his senior year and registered three double-doubles.

As a junior, Octave averaged 11.9 points per game, third most on the team. He scored in double figures in 20 of his 29 contests, including a streak of 11 straight games to end his first season with the Crusaders.

Octave began his collegiate career at the United State Air Force Academy, spending two years with the Falcons. As a sophomore, Octave played in 25 games with 24 starts for Air Force, averaging 8.3 points per game, fourth-most on the team. He finished fifth in rebounding (3.0 rebounds per game). Octave connected on 45.8 percent of his field goal attempts and 37.0 percent of his three-pointers that season.

Scholastically, Octave played at Mary Star of the Sea High School in San Pedro, California. Octave scored 2,768 points during his high school career. He averaged 24.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in high school and was a four-time first team all-league selection. He also played AAU with Russell Westbrook's Team Why Not.
