NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – Four Seawolves were named to IWLCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams as announced by the organization on Thursday. Senior midfielder
Ellie Masera (First Team), graduate attack
Kailyn Hart (Second Team), graduate attack
Alex Finn (Second Team), and junior defender
Avery Hines (Second Team) took home the honors for the Seawolves.
Masera, a 2024 Tewaaraton Award Finalist, concluded a standout four-year career at Stony Brook. On May 8, she was selected with the third pick of the Athletes Unlimited College Draft becoming the second player in program history to be drafted in the league. Masera was named the CAA Midfielder of the Year for the second season in a row and was selected as the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding performer following the Seawolves' 9-6 championship victory over Drexel. She was also selected to the USA Lacrosse All-American First Team and is just the second player in program history to be named a Tewaaraton Finalist.
The All-CAA First Teamer recorded 117 points (77 goals, 40 assists) and 145 draw controls (SBU single-season record) in 19 games this season. She ranks 11
th in the nation in draw controls per game (7.6), second in goals (77), sixth in goals per game (4.1), first in points (117), second in points per game (6.2), first in shots per game (9.9), and first in shots on goal per game (7.1). She led the CAA in goals, goals per game, points, points per game, shots, and shots per game.
Earlier this season, she netted her 200
th career goal in a win over Rutgers on April 9, and became just the sixth player in program history to reach 200 career goals. In the CAA Tournament semifinal win over Elon, Masera eclipsed 300 points in her career and 100 points this season. She was the fifth player in program history to record over 300 points in their career and the sixth player to register 100 points or more in a single-season. She finished her career with 390 draw controls, the most in Stony Brook history.
Hart finished the season with 92 points (73 goals, 19 assists) in 20 games this season. She was tabbed to the Tewaaraton Watch List, a USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention, the All-CAA First Team, All-CAA Championship Team, and was named the CAA Player of the week on April 8. Hart ranked second in the CAA in goals, second in goals per game (3.7), third in points, third in points per game (4.6), second in shots per game (8.1), and second in shots on goal per game (5.7).
The attack has registered 14 hat tricks this season and scored a season-high seven goals on two occasions. In Stony Brook's win over Rutgers on April 9, she became the fifth player in program history to record their 200
th career goal. Hart finished her career with 302 points and became just the sixth player in program history to register 300 or more points in their career.
Hines burst onto the scene in 2024 and was a member of the All-CAA First Team. She was a two-time IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week (April 9, April 23) and a three-time CAA Defensive Player of the Week (April 8, April 15, April 22) as a junior. The defender caused 66 turnovers and picked up 45 ground balls. With her 66 caused turnovers, Hines moved past Brook Gubitosi (55 in 2017) for the most caused turnovers in a single-season in program history and set the CAA single-season record. The junior ranks fourth in the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.1) and finished first in the CAA in caused turnovers and second in the CAA in caused turnovers per game. Hines was also a USA Lacrosse Third Team All-American.
Finn was named to the All-CAA First Team and a USA Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention. The attack helped fuel the offense with 85 points (32 goals, 53 assists). She was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and took home CAA Player of the Week honors once this season (Feb. 19). The graduate ranks ninth in the nation in assists (53) and 16
th in assists per game (2.5). She leads the CAA in assists, is fourth in points, and fifth in points per game. Finn has registered multiple points in 16 games this season and dished out three or more assists in a game seven times.
