RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook football wide receiver Anthony Johnson has earned All-CAA Football Preseason honors as announced by the league office during virtual media day on Wednesday morning. Johnson was honored with the recognition based on a vote by the conference's head coaches.

Johnson is coming off an historic 2023 year, his first season on the Island. He led all FCS freshmen and ranked top 10 in the Coastal Athletic Association in receptions (59), receptions per game (5.9), receiving yards (714) and average receiving yards (71.4).

His total receptions were tied for sixth most in a single season in program history and recorded at least five receptions in seven games, which had not been done by a Stony Brook receiver in eight years. Johnson averaged 12.1 yards per catch and finished with three touchdowns, all of which came on receptions of 20 or more yards.

At the end of last season, the New Jersey native took home five postseason honors – two Freshman All-Americans from Stats Perform and FCS Football Central, a selection as a Jerry Rice Award finalist and Third Team All-CAA from both the conference and Phil Steele.

Stony Brook kicks off the season on Saturday, August 31, against Marshall at 5:00 p.m., in West Virginia. This will be the first-ever meeting between these two programs.
