PARIS, FRANCE – After participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, women's basketball alumna India Pagan is set to represent Puerto Rico in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

Pagan made her Olympic debut in 2020 making Connecticut history as the first New London native to compete in the Games but also Puerto Rican history as a member of the first-ever women's basketball team to qualify and compete at the Summer Olympics. Additionally, she became the first Seawolves women's basketball player, and third Stony Brook student-athlete ever, to compete in the Olympic Games. This year, she is looking to make more history, as team Puerto Rico aims to win its first medal in the sport of women's basketball.

"It's truly an indescribable feeling, I'm not sure if it has set in yet, but I know once I get into the Olympic Village and I'm a part of the Opening Ceremony the tears will instantly flow. This time around it's extra special to me because the last Olympics was during COVID so there were many restrictions. No fans were allowed, as athletes we couldn't attend any other sporting events, we had to take around two COVID tests a day and had many other restrictions.

I will be soaking up every moment of these 2024 Paris Olympics. Thankfully, my family will be able to attend this one as well, so I will be sharing this dream with them by my side as they have always been throughout my basketball career. Younger me would've never imagined that I was going to be a two-time Olympian, I hope I've made her proud. I will be representing all the communities I've ever been a part of, with Stony Brook being one of them. My collegiate career at SBU also helped me get to where I am today, and I am forever grateful to all those who were a part of my growth on and off the court throughout those five years on Long Island. Sending a million thanks for the consistent love and support from my Seawolf family," said Pagan.

Puerto Rico is slated for play in Group A along with Serbia, Spain, and China. Group games will be held at Pierre Malloy Stadium in Lille, France, while Accor Arena in Paris will host the quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal games.

Group A Preliminaries:

July 31 – 5 a.m. ET vs. Spain
August 3 – 5 a.m. ET vs. China
