Seawolves Fall To Northeastern In Close CAA Matchup

BROOKLINE, Mass. — Stony Brook women's soccer fell to Northeastern 1-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies notched the lone goal of the match in the 28th minute, holding the Seawolves scoreless and handing them just their second CAA loss of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Stony Brook controlled the opening 20 minutes of play, maintaining possession and pace, mustering several scoring opportunities that the Northeastern goalkeeper turned away, making four saves in the first 20 minutes.

In the 28th minute, the Huskies opened the scoring, finding the back of the net on their first shot on goal of the day. Northeastern kept the Stony Brook attack at bay throughout the remainder of the first half, taking a 1-0 advantage into the locker room.

The Seawolves continued to control possession to begin the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net. Another Stony Brook scoring chance was denied by the Northeastern keeper in the 65th minute, as a diving save by the keeper stopped a Linn Beck shot and helped the Huskies maintain the lead.

Northeastern was able to hold off the Stony Brook offense in the final moments of play, securing the 1-0 victory.
