Cross Country Competes At 2025 Paul Short Run With Catherwood Recording Top Team Finish

 BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Stony Brook men's cross country team competed at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh on Friday. Across two race events, Gavin Catherwood posted the Seawolves' top placement, finishing 65th in the 8K open race.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Catherwood posted the Seawolves' best performance of the day, finishing 65th in the 8K open event (25:14.7).
  • Henry Gartner finished 69th in the Gold 8K race, crossing the finish line in 24:14.3, setting a new PR in the event.
  • Cain Lawler recorded a 71st-place finish in the 8K open, finishing in 25:17.3.
  • Peter Fogarty set a new PR in the 8K with a time of 24:23.9, good for a 92nd-place finish in the Gold 8K race.
  • Michael Hawkes placed 100th in the Gold 8K (24:29.6).

"This was our first real test of the season. Overall, I feel it was a productive outing against some nationally ranked teams and some of our regionally ranked opponents," said head coach Andy Ronan. "Racing in this type of competitive environment is going to help us prepare for the championship season that is to come at the end of October. So, it was a solid day of racing by the guys ,but work to do."

The Seawolves are back in action in two weeks, competing at both the IC4A/ECAC Championships and the Princeton Fall Classic on Friday, October 17.
