RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook football redshirt freshman quarterback
Quinn Boyd has been named CAA Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday morning. Boyd earns his first CAA Football weekly honor and becomes the third member of the program to receive a conference weekly award this season.
Boyd delivered a stellar performance in just his third career start, completing 37 of 48 passes for a career-high 380 yards, a personal-best three passing touchdowns, and his first career rushing score. After the Seawolves fell behind 3–0 on their opening drive, Boyd ignited the offense with a 33-yard touchdown pass, followed by a 5-yard rushing touchdown. He later connected with Freeman for a 65-yard strike and closed out the first half with a 25-yard touchdown pass to
Dez Williams, giving Stony Brook a commanding 31–6 lead at the break in the dominant 38–12 victory.
Boyd is now 93-for-143 through the air this season for 881 yards, recording five touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown with no interceptions. His 380 passing yards rank as the sixth-most in a single game in program history and the most ever by a freshman quarterback. The performance also marked new career highs in passing touchdowns and secured his first career rushing touchdown.
