STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Seawolves lost at home for the first time this season as they were upset by UAlbany 71-55.
Stony Brook's home win streak comes to an end at six in a row this year and eight in a row dating back to last season, marking the seventh longest streak in program history.
How It Happened
- Just like they have done all year long, the Seawolves got off to a hot start in Stony Brook Arena as an opening layup from Rob Brown III followed by back-to-back three-pointers from Erik Pratt quickly made it 8-0 80 seconds in. The Great Danes, however, responded with nine unanswered on three shots from behind the arc to pull ahead 9-8.
- UAlbany would maintain a slim lead for the next few minutes, until Pratt tied things back up at 16-16 with two from the line at 11:20. After the Great Danes regrew their lead to five, Pratt made it a three-point game as he drove to the basket and reached 10 points through the first 10 minutes.
- The Seawolves could not slow down UAlbany for long, though, as they eventually found themselves trailing 33-23 with four minutes remaining. The deficit would continue to grow over the final minutes, ending with Stony Brook being down 40-27 at the half.
- Richard Goods opened the second half with the team's first triple since Pratt's at 18:40 in the first. Quin Gorman followed up with his second dunk of the night a minute later, before Goods drained another from deep at 17:50 to cut the deficit down to 40-35.
- The Great Danes continued to do damage from deep, making three more three-pointers in the next three minutes to extend their lead to 51-38 with under 15 to play. The lead would later grow to 17 points as the Seawolves went over five minutes without a score. A Tomas Valentiny three at 10:31 would finally end the drought and make it 55-41.
- Inside of 10 minutes, Stony Brook went on a 10-0 run, including another three-pointer and a dunk from Valentiny, to cut UAlbany's lead down to 56-51 with less than seven minutes to go. This would be as close as the Seawolves would get, however, as they were outscored 15-4 over the final seven minutes to end the game.
Stats and Notes
- Pratt only needed 10 minutes and 10 seconds to reach double figures as he ended the night with 20 points. He now has five 20-point games and 11 double-digit scoring games on the season. Pratt also tied his season high with three steals to lead the team.
- Valentiny had his second double-digit scoring game of the season with 10 tonight.
