Hines Captures CAA Defensive Player of the Week After Program Record Performance

RICHMOND, Va. – Stony Brook's Avery Hines earned the Seawolves' first CAA women's lacrosse Player of the Week honor for 2025, taking Defensive Player of the Week following a program record performance, as announced by the league office on Monday.
 
Last Wednesday against Villanova, Hines broke the Stony Brook single-game program record for total caused turnovers with eight. She has now tallied 77 caused turnovers in her career, good for 7th all-time in Stony Brook women's lacrosse program history.
 
Hines also tallied a career-high six ground balls in the 12-5 victory over the Wildcats, totaling 53 ground balls through her career with the Seawolves.
 
Through three games, the Mt. Airy, Md. Native sits atop the CAA in caused turnovers with 3.00 per game. She ranks seventh in the nation in the same category.
 
Hines and the Seawolves are back in action on Saturday, March 1, in their home opener against ranked Johns Hopkins in an 11 a.m. tilt at LaValle Stadium. Tickets for Saturday's action and all remaining Stony Brook home games are available at stonybrookathletics.com/tickets.
