STONY BROOK, N.Y.- Following a terrific fall semester in the classroom, the Stony Brook men's and women's cross country teams were honored for their outstanding academic achievements, earning All-Academic status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The men's team finished with a 3.30 GPA, and the women's with a 3.14 to earn the academic honors.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.

To go along with both teams receiving All-Academic Team honors, senior Grace Weigele earned an individual distinction as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete.

Weigele registered a program-best 22nd-place finish at the 2024 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, crossing the finish line in 20:27.13. The senior is pursuing her Health Sciences degree at Stony Brook and has a cumulative GPA of 3.540.

To qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships.
