Zaida Gonzalez Selected to All-Met Third Team

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.Zaida Gonzalez of the Stony Brook women's basketball team was recognized as an All-Met Third Team honoree, as voted on by the Met Basketball Writers and announced by the association on Tuesday morning.

Gonzalez, the All-CAA Second Team recipient, had a standout 2024-25 season for the Seawolves, averaging a team-high 16.0 points per game which ranked fourth in the league. She also averaged 4.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 steal per game finishing with new career-highs in points (465), field goals made (180), rebounds (138), and steals (29).

This season, Gonzalez cemented her name in the Stony Brook record book, breaking the single game program record scoring a career-high 37 points in an overtime victory against Charleston. She became the 22nd player in program history to reach 1,000 points after tallying the historic point on Long Island against Delaware on Feb. 28. She tallied double-figure points in 23 of 29 games this season, including 20 or more points in eight of those contests.

She finished her career with 1,070 points, 379 rebounds, 134 assists, and 92 steals. Over the course of four seasons, she shot 37.6 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from three-point range.

The 2024-25 All-Met teams criteria has 21 colleges and universities and more than 300 women's players under the MBWA Division I umbrella. The All-Met recipients will be honored at the 92nd MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner on Thursday, April 24, at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel & Conference Center in Tarrytown, N.Y. The Haggerty dinner is the longest running, media-managed college basketball awards program in the United States.

The All-Met Second Team: Cecelia Collins, Columbia; Lashae Dwyer, St. John's; Jada Eads, Seton Hall; Kaety L'Amoreaux, Fairfield; Ny'Ceara Pryor, Sacred Heart.
 
In addition to Gonzalez, All-Met Third Team: Ashley Chea, Princeton; Taylor Donaldson, Fordham; Trinity Hady, Army West Point; Fatmata Janneh, Saint Peter's; Ava Renninger, Fairleigh Dickinson.

All-Met Honorable Mention: Skye Belker, Princeton; Savannah Catalon, Seton Hall; Morgan Lee, Marist; Damaris Rodriguez, Monmouth.
