NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.Avery Hines of the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team has been named to the IWLCA All-American Second Team as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.

Hines, the CAA Defensive Player of the Year, anchored the Seawolves' defense as a member of the Tewaaraton Watch List, a two-time IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week (March 24, May 6), a seven-time CAA Defensive Player of the Week (February 24, March 10, March 24, March 31, April 7, April 14, April 28), an Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American, an IWLCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection, a Nike Lacrosse Media All-American and a USA Lacrosse All-American.

The All-CAA First Teamer caused a team-high 74 turnovers and picked up 54 ground balls through 21 games for the Seawolves this season. Her 74 caused turnovers are a single-season program best (behind her 66 caused turnovers last season) and she sits atop the all-time caused turnover record with 142 total over her four-year career. She ranks third in the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.50) and leads the CAA in caused turnovers.

Earlier this season, Hines collected her 100th career caused turnover in a win over Vermont on March 6 and became just the fifth player in program history to reach this milestone. She broke the single-game (8), single-season (74), and career (142) caused turnover record during the 2025 campaign. She also recorded 100 career ground balls in the NCAA Second Round against Boston College.
