DANBURY, Conn. –
Isabella Caporuscio and
Avery Hines of Stony Brook women's lacrosse earned ECAC honors as announced on Friday. Hines was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the All-ECAC Team, while Caporuscio was tabbed to the All-ECAC Team.
Hines, the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and All-CAA First Team selection, anchored the Seawolves' defense as a member of the Tewaaraton Watch List, a two-time IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week (March 24, May 6), a seven-time CAA Defensive Player of the Week (February 24, March 10, March 24, March 31, April 7, April 14, April 28), an Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American, a Nike Lacrosse Media All-American, and a USA Lacrosse All-American. The senior defender caused a team-high 74 turnovers and picked up 54 ground balls through 21 games in for the Seawolves. She broke the single-game (8), single-season (74), and career caused turnover record with 142 over her four-year career. She ranks third in the nation in caused turnovers per game (3.50) and leads the CAA in caused turnovers.
Caporuscio recorded 68 points on 49 goals and 19 assists, along with 82 draw controls, 52 ground balls, and 36 caused turnovers through 21 games this season. In the CAA, she ranks third in caused turnovers per game (1.71), fourth in ground balls per game (2.48), eighth in draw controls per game (3.90), and 10
th in shots per game (5.52). She opened the season with a career performance at Bryant, recording eight points on six goals and two assists before notching a season-high 11 draw controls over UAlbany. She grabbed six ground balls against both ranked Johns Hopkins and Hofstra, while recording four caused turnovers in three contests. Along with her statistical accolades, Caporuscio was named the unanimous CAA Midfielder of the Year, an Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American, an IWLCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region selection, a Nike Lacrosse Media All-American, and a USA Lacrosse All-American.
