STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Stony Brook running back Roland Dempster has been named to the 2025 FCS Football Central Preseason All-America Second Team, the organization announced Wednesday. This marks the second preseason All-American nod for Dempster as he was named to the Stats Perform All-America team last week.

Dempster enters the 2025 season following a standout 2024 campaign in which he was named a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, presented to the top offensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision. He was the second player in program history to be named a finalist for the award, joining Miguel Maysonet (2012).

Last season, Dempster rushed for 1,332 yards on 268 carries and scored 18 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 335 yards and one receiving touchdown, averaging 138.9 all-purpose yards per game. He led the CAA in rushing yards and rushing yards per game and ranked third in the FCS in total touchdowns.

His performance earned him First Team All-CAA honors and postseason All-America recognition from Stats Perform, the Associated Press, Phil Steele, and FCS Central. He became Stony Brook's first four-time All-American since Maysonet.

Dempster recorded seven 100-yard rushing games and nine games with over 100 all-purpose yards. He finished the season with three games of three rushing touchdowns and three games with more than 200 all-purpose yards. He was also named FCS National Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 and earned CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 9 and Sept. 23.

In the program record books, Dempster ranks fourth in single-season rushing yards, second in rushing touchdowns by a running back, and third in total touchdowns in a season. He also helped Stony Brook improved its offensive production significantly in 2024, increasing its scoring average from 15.2 to 29.6 points per game and its rushing average from 104.1 to 170.3 yards per game.

The Stony Brook football team returns to the field on August 28th as they head to San Diego to battle the Aztecs at SnapDragon Stadium.
