OPENING KICK
  • The Seawolves enter the game with a 1-2 (0-1 CAA) record, following losses to FBS foe San Diego State and No. 8/9 Rhode Island, and a victory over Fordham.
  • In their last outing, Stony Brook earned its first win of the season, powered by Chris Zellous, who threw three touchdowns, rushed for another, and totaled 308 yards to lead the Seawolves to a 41-18 victory.
  • QB Chris Zellous became the first Stony Brook player this season to earn a CAA weekly award, receiving CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday.
  • This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
  • Stony Brook owns a 7-2 record against teams currently in the OVC-Big South (Gardner-Webb 3-0, SEMO 0-1, Charleston Southern 4-1).
  • The Seawolves received votes in this week's FCS Top 25 poll by Stats Perform FCS.
  • Stony Brook is seeking its first road victory of the season. Over their last six road games, the Seawolves own a 4-2 record, with defeats against San Diego State and Rhode Island.
KINGS OF NEW YORK
  • In their last game, the Seawolves secured their first win of the season with Chris Zellous throwing three touchdowns, rushing for another, and combining for 308 total yards in a 41-18 win over Fordham.
  • Roland Dempster continued his strong ground performance, totaling 94 yards on 18 carries, including a long of 19 yards.
  • Jayce Freeman caught two touchdown passes—three receptions for 47 yards total. He became the first Seawolf with two TD catches in a game since Dez Williams vs. Monmouth (11/16/24). Freeman now has nine career touchdowns, the most among active players.
  • Marqeese Dietz and Chris Zellous connected for a 93-yard touchdown—the second-longest passing play in program history.
  • The Stony Brook defense was led by DaMario Crawford, who recorded the team's first pick-six of the season. Anthony Ferrelli added an interception, forced fumble, and eight tackles, while Chayce Chalmers and Aidan Kaler led the team with nine tackles each.
  • Dyshier Clary became the first player since Rodney Faulk (vs. UNH, 11/26/24) to record two sacks in a game and also posted a career-high eight tackles.
  • Michael Mannino led the special teams unit with a 49-yard field goal—the longest made field goal in program history.
  • Stony Brook outgained Fordham 441-287, including 260 passing yards to Fordham's 163.
  • Defensively, the Seawolves registered 10 tackles for loss, compared to Fordham's three.
  • Among 2025 Patriot League teams, Stony Brook has faced Lehigh (1-1), Bucknell (2-0), Lafayette (1-0), Colgate (4-1), Fordham (5-4), and Richmond (4-4).
  • Stony Brook improved to 5-4 all-time against Fordham.

ZELLOUS EARNS CAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

  • After a standout performance in a dominant win over Fordham, graduate quarterback Chris Zellous has been named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday morning.
  • Zellous becomes the first Stony Brook player to earn the weekly offensive honor since October 21, 2024, when quarterback Tyler Knoop received the recognition.
  • He completed 21-of-28 passes (75%) for a career-high 260 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 53 yards and a score, his second game in three starts with at least 50 rushing yards and a touchdown.
  • Zellous became the first Seawolf QB since Kyle Negron (11/16/13) to tally three passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown in a game.
  • His 260 passing yards were the most by a Seawolf QB since Tyler Knoop's breakout performance vs. Monmouth (11/23/24).
  • It marked Zellous' first career three-touchdown passing game and his second career game with four total touchdowns.
  • He also shattered his previous career passing high of 256 yards (set while playing for Hampton vs. Richmond, 9/30/23).
HISTORY WITH THE OVC-BIG SOUTH
  • Stony Brook holds a 7-2 all-time record against current OVC-Big South teams.
  • The Seawolves have faced Charleston Southern more than any other team in the conference, owning a 4-1 record against the Buccaneers. Stony Brook has won the last three meetings, dating back to 2010. The most recent win came on Oct. 16, 2012—a 49-7 home victory.
  • Stony Brook is undefeated (3-0) against Gardner-Webb, defeating them three consecutive years from 2010–2012. Their last matchup was a 41-10 win at LaValle Stadium (10/20/12).
  • The Seawolves' most recent game against any current OVC-Big South team came vs. Southeastern Missouri State on Nov. 24, 2018, a 28-14 loss in Missouri.
  • This is the first-ever meeting between Stony Brook and Lindenwood.
ABOUT THE LIONS
  • The Lindenwood football program is led by head coach Jed Stugart, now in his eighth season at the helm and 18th overall. He holds a 42-40 record at Lindenwood and guided the team through its transition from Division II to Division I in 2022-23, finishing 7-3 in their first D1 season.
  • The Lions enter this matchup 1-2, coming off a 35-28 comeback win over Charleston Southern. They previously fell to St. Thomas (Minn.) and Appalachian State.
  • Linebacker Jacob Waller earned OVC-Big South Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording a career-high 17 tackles (13 solo) against Charleston Southern.
  • LB Sanjay Strickland was the previous week's honoree, posting a career-high 13 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble vs. Appalachian State.
  • Offensively, QB Nate Glantz leads the way with seven total touchdowns (four rushing, three passing). He's thrown for 781 yards on 58-of-99 passing (130.81 passer rating).
  • Lindenwood has four receivers who have surpassed 100 receiving yards this season: Drew Krobath (242), Rico Bond (182), Jalen Smith (119), and Darrin Fugitt (86).
  • The 2025 season marks Lindenwood's first year of postseason eligibility, having completed their reclassification process one year early, per NCAA guidelines.
  • Lindenwood was picked fourth in the OVC-Big South preseason poll—its highest preseason ranking in the Division I era. The Lions also received four votes in the AFCA FCS Coaches Preseason Poll—their first votes since 2022.
  • Last season, Lindenwood finished 5-7, including a signature win over No. 9 Southeast Missouri State on Nov. 9, 2024.
