PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Stony Brook women's soccer fell on the road at Drexel, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. Stony Brook managed just three shots on goal, despite 18 total chances and seven corners, snapping a two-match winning streak.
Jona Hennings made the first stop of the game in the 13th minute, turning aside a Drexel chance to keep things scoreless. Hennings' save stood as the lone stop of the entire first half, between both sides. Drexel and Stony Brook combined for 12 shots in the first half, with the Dragons capitalizing in the 36th minute on a long-range shot that just cleared the fingertips of Hennings and put Drexel on top, 1-0.
Stony Brook put forth three shots towards goal in the second half, but never did find an equalizer. Maya Corbett, Eva Sprewell and Juni Einarsson all tried for goal but were turned away. Einarsson's chance came in the final moments of the second half but was corralled to stymie Stony Brook's last-ditch effort.
The Seawolves return to action on Sunday, October 25 at home against Northeastern. The Seawolves and Huskies are set for a 1 pm kickoff at LaValle Stadium, streaming live on FloCollege.
