STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Redshirt freshman defensive end Khalid Bueno and redshirt junior safety DaMario Crawford have earned midseason honors from Phil Steele. Bueno was named FCS Midseason Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year while earning First-Team All-American honors. Crawford was named a Fourth-Team All-American, as announced by the publication this week.

Bueno has already earned CAA Rookie of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors, along with Stats Perform National Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week recognition. He adds Phil Steele Midseason Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and First-Team All-American honors to his resume.

This season, Bueno leads the FCS in sacks (10.5), sacks per game (1.50) and tackles for loss (16.0). He also leads the CAA in forced fumbles (2) and is the only player in the conference with a three-sack game this season, accomplishing the feat twice. The Philadelphia native has recorded double-digit tackles for loss in four of six games, helping the Seawolves lead the conference in sacks and tackles for loss.

Crawford has been a dynamic presence in the return game for Stony Brook and has already earned CAA Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The redshirt junior leads the CAA and ranks seventh in the FCS with 31.9 kick return yards per game. He also ranks ninth nationally with 383 total kick return yards. In the victory over Towson, Crawford averaged 55.0 yards on two kickoff returns, including a 90-yard touchdown that proved to be the difference in Stony Brook's 31-24 win. It marked Stony Brook's first kickoff return for a touchdown since October 2025.

The Seawolves return to action this Saturday when they travel to Smithfield, R.I., to take on Bryant. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. on FloCollege. Stony Brook will look to earn its sixth straight win over the Bulldogs and improve on its 5-1 all-time record against Bryant.
