Baseball Concludes Weekend Series at No. 2 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Stony Brook baseball team concluded its weekend at No. 2 Georgia Tech this afternoon with a 21-3 defeat at Mac Nease Baseball Park at Russ Chandler Stadium.



HOW IT HAPPENED
  • James Schaffer led off the game with a walk before the Yellow Jackets ended the threat with a caught stealing, followed by a strikeout and a groundout. Georgia Tech responded in the bottom of the first with seven runs, including a leadoff home run, to take a 7-0 lead. The Yellow Jackets extended the advantage to 11-0 after two innings, scoring four runs on three hits in the second.
  • Nicholas Dromboski reached base for the Seawolves in the top of the third with a two-out walk before the inning came to a close. The No. 2 Yellow Jackets pushed the lead to 14-0 with a three-run homer later in the frame.
  • Matt Sgambati entered the game after the home run and recorded the final out of the third inning. He followed with a 1-2-3 fourth inning to keep Georgia Tech scoreless.
  • Georgia Tech added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Stony Brook got on the scoreboard in the sixth. Jack Scheri recorded an RBI groundout that scored Luke Ciminiello.
  • The Yellow Jackets plated three more runs in the sixth. Stony Brook answered with two runs in the seventh before falling, 21-3, in seven innings. Paul Daulton added an RBI groundout that scored Matthew Wright, and Schaffer brought home Daulton with an RBI single.

UP NEXT
The Seawolves return to action next weekend with a trip to Florida to face FIU in Miami. First pitch of the three-game set on Friday is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
