HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Seawolves went down in order in the top of the first inning, right-hander Ty Panariello took the mound for Stony Brook. The senior captain worked out of a first-and-second, one-out jam by striking out the final two batters of the inning.
- Chanz Doughty opened the second with a walk and advanced to third on a single by Nicholas Dromboski. Stony Brook broke through on an error and stolen base, and Scott Gell made it 2-0 with an RBI groundout to shortstop. James Schaffer kept the rally going with a two-out RBI single, giving the Seawolves a three-run lead after an inning and a half.
- Panariello worked around a leadoff walk in the bottom half by retiring the next three hitters.
- Following a scoreless top of the third, New Haven put runners on the corners with a one-out double and single. A sacrifice fly cut the deficit to 3-1 with two outs, but Panariello recorded another strikeout to preserve the two-run lead through three innings.
- Luca Mannino entered in the fourth with the Seawolves ahead by two.
- After a scoreless bottom of the fourth from Mannino, Nick Zamperion extended the lead to 4-1 with an RBI single in the fifth.
- New Haven answered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning, trimming the deficit to 4-3.

- The Seawolves were again kept off the board in the eighth before Jerek Podest took over in the bottom half. He allowed four runs before freshman Dylan Henshaw entered and surrendered one unearned run, escaping the inning with a 14-10 lead intact.
