PRINCETON, N.J. — Stony Brook women's lacrosse extended its winning streak to six straight on Wednesday night, taking down ranked Princeton 10-8 in New Jersey.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves got off to a fast start, winning the opening draw control and scoring just 38 seconds into play on a goal by Olivia Schorr. They added two more goals to take a 3-0 lead with 11:45 remaining in the first quarter. The Tigers responded two minutes later with a free-position goal. Princeton generated several more scoring chances but was denied by Natalia Altebrando and the Seawolves' defense. Stony Brook regained its three-goal advantage with a late first-quarter goal from Jeilinne Bonilla.
In the second quarter, the Tigers opened with two goals to cut the deficit to one. Princeton continued to press for the equalizer but could not convert. After being held scoreless for the first 10 minutes of the quarter, Isabella Caporuscio found the back of the net to give the Seawolves a two-goal lead again. That lead did not last long, as Princeton scored the final goal of the half to make it a one-goal game at the break.
Both teams traded goals early in the third quarter, keeping Stony Brook ahead by one. The Seawolves then put together a 3-0 run, highlighted by a slick fakeout goal from Keira Martin and capped by a goal from Haydin Eisfeld. Princeton added the final goal of the quarter, but Stony Brook still held a 9-6 lead heading into the fourth.
The Tigers scored two of the three goals in the final quarter, cutting the deficit to 10-8 with 5:37 remaining. Princeton continued applying pressure in an attempt to even things up, but was denied as a pair of caused turnovers forced by Hailey Huebner and Caporuscio helped secure the ranked win for the Seawolves.

- Caporuscio scored a game-high three goals, her eighth game this season with three or more goals.
- Mirabella Altebrando tallied three points on two goals and one assist.
- Schorr posted a two-goal performance, her fourth of the season.
- Bonilla, Eisfeld, Martin, and Julia Fusco rounded out the Stony Brook goal scorers with one goal each in the win.
- Huebner continued her dominant season, forcing a game-best four caused turnovers.
- Natalia Altebrando picked up the win in goal, stopping a season-best eight shots for a .500 save percentage.
- The Seawolves outshot the Tigers 32-24.
- Stony Brook bested Princeton 12-9 in draw controls.
