Men’s Track & Field Medal in Three Events at 2026 CAA Outdoor Championships

ELON, N.C. — Stony Brook men's track and field competed at the 2026 CAA Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday in North Carolina, earning 52 points throughout the two days' worth of competition, which was good for a seventh-place overall finish. Three Seawolves captured medals on the men's side, as Peter Fogarty won the steeplechase event for a gold medal, while T'Vario Willis took silver in the high jump and Caleb Gartner earned silver in the 1,500-meter event.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • A strong final lap helped Fogarty take gold in the steeplechase, finishing in 9:18.66, scoring 10 points for Stony Brook.
  • Willis produced one of the best high jump performances in program history, capturing a silver medal and scoring eight points with a mark of 2.09m, tied for the best outdoor mark in program history.
  • Caleb Gartner finished second overall in the 1,500-meter run, securing a silver medal with a final time of 3:47.19 and scoring eight team points for the Seawolves.
  • Steven Struk placed fourth in the 5,000-meter (14:52.78), scoring five points for Stony Brook.
  • Fogarty produced a solid run in the 5,000-meter (14:59.27), earning the Seawolves four team points.
  • Struk scored four more points for Stony Brook in the 10,000-meter (30.31.44), finishing in fifth.
  • The 4x100-meter relay team of Jamal Joseph, Charlie Garcia, Michael Ye, and David Onovo placed fourth in the event (42.09), scoring four points in the process.
  • Henry Gartner crossed the finish line in 14:59.95 in the 5,000-meter, scoring the Seawolves three total points.
  • Jaden Medrano, Andres Acosta Mondriguez, Walesky Nowak, and Jamal Joseph placed sixth in the 4x400m relay (3:18.81), scoring three points.
  • Matthew Brodsky earned a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter (1:53.13), which scored Stony Brook three points.
