BUIES CREEK, N.C. — Stony Brook women's soccer and Campbell played to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon in North Carolina. Jona Hennings was credited with three total saves, the biggest of which came on a Campbell penalty kick in the first minute of action, eventually earning her fourth clean sheet of the 2026 season.
Campbell's afternoon started fast when Hennings was whistled for a foul inside the box in the opening minute of action, generating a penalty kick for the Camels. Campbell's Abby Connolly stepped up to take it, but was turned away when Hennings' outstretched hand tipped it up and over the cage.
Offensively, Stony Brook totaled 10 shots in the opening half of action, though only one made its way on goal. Six of the Seawolves' 10 first-half shots were blocked by the defense. Hennings made a second save midway through the first half, helping Stony Brook keep the Camels off the board through 45 minutes.
On the offensive end, Stony Brook registered eight more shots in the second half, putting three on target to force saves. The Seawolves' final shot of the afternoon came courtesy of Maya Corbett in the 76th minute of the contest. In the final minute of the match, Hennings made her final save before a last-second header on a free-kick cross from the end line went high as the clock ran out.
Corbett and Juni Einarsson each tried a team-high five shots. Einarsson put three of her five shots on target, a team-best mark. Eva Sprewell was responsible for Stony Brook's only other shot on goal in the match.Â
The Seawolves moved to 1-1-1 in conference play with today's result. Stony Brook returns to action next Sunday, October 4 at Towson. The Seawolves and Tigers are set for a 1 pm start in Maryland, streaming live on FloCollege.
