Seawolves Remain Unbeaten After Earning Draw on Senior Day

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook University women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Lehigh on senior day at LaValle Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Emily Lemke and Juni Einarsson netted goals for the Seawolves.

The Mountain Hawks opened the scoring, despite Stony Brook controlling most of the tempo and applying pressure throughout the start of the contest. A header on a long corner cleared Jona Hennings and a pair of Seawolves' defenders on the goal line in the 35th minute.

Stony Brook's disciplined buildup yielded an equalizer in the closing moments of the first half. Emily Lemke chipped home a left‑footed strike after a long through pass from Eva Sprewell, leveling the match in the 43rd minute. Stony Brook dominated possession and created the bulk of the chances, racking up 11 shots in the first half alone.

Stony Brook's second‑half surge began with a flurry of shots. The pressure paid off early on when Einarsson, aided by Lemke and Hedvig Helling, netted a left‑footed strike to make it 2‑1 in favor of the Seawolves. The goal was the first of Einarsson's collegiate career.

Lehigh, refusing to capitulate, leaned heavily on goalkeeper Chloe Zipprich, who produced a remarkable 11 saves across the match, including five in the first half and six in the second. Zipprich's shot‑stopping kept the Mountain Hawks within striking distance throughout the entire match, despite facing a relentless Stony Brook attack that logged 25 total shots and 13 on goal.

Lehigh's persistence offensively paid off when Tori Okorodudu, fed by Elliot Forney, finished a low drive to the bottom left corner in the 64th minute, tying the game at 2‑2. The final minutes saw both sides trade chances at finding a game winner, but neither side conceded and the match concluded with the score locked at 2‑2.
