Cynthia Orengo and Katie McCabe each blasted eight kills to lead the Stony Brook volleyball team (9-15) to a 15-12, 15-3, 16-14 victory over Wagner College (4-21) Saturday night.
Debra Falkenberg and Rachael Goldsmith each tallied three kills in the first game to lead the Seawolves to the 1-0 advantage. In game two, Stony Brook raced to an 11-2 lead behind five kills from McCabe and five digs by Jaime O'Connor.
In the final game, the Seawolves led 12-3 before Wagner tied the score at 12-12. The Seahawks briefly took the lead at 14-13 but Stony Brook scored two straight points to seal the victory.
Alison Fields recorded a team-high eight digs to go along with a match-high 32 assists.
Wagner was led by Aimee Dalton and Kara Wagner, who had five kills. Wagner also led the team with 12 digs while Jessica Vega set 13 assists.
The Seawolves return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 31, when they travel to take on Manhattan at 7 p.m.
