The softball team traveled to Albany for a doubleheader on Friday.
Although the team put on a much-improved performance, the Seawolves dropped
both games by one run, 2-1 and 3-2.
In Game One, the Great Danes opened up a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Stony
Brook tied it up in the fifth when Victoria Menchise drove home Jennifer Milito. But Albany
regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth and held on for the 2-1 win. The
Seawolves got just one hit in the game, while pitcher Stephanie Poetzsch gave up
six hits and struck out six batters.
The Seawolves took a 2-0 lead in Game Two before the Great Danes notched a
3-2 comeback victory. Tricia Lipareli's RBI double scored Corrine Vish in the top of
the first. USB added a run in the fifth when Cassie Rupp's RBI single scored Milito.
But Albany scored three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Vish led Stony Brook, going 3-for-4 with one run scored. Cassie Rupp went 2-for-2
with one RBI.
With the losses, Stony Brook falls to 1-13 on the season.
