UMBC Defeats Stony Brook Lacrosse, 15-3

April 29, 2000

Baltimore, Md. - - Eleven different Retrievers found the net as UMBC (7-6, 4-2) won its third straight game and went over the .500 mark for the first time this season in a 15-3 victory over Stony Brook (5-10, 0-5).

The Retrievers wasted no time in jumping out to a lead, scoring 1:45 into the game on a goal by Dan Marohl. UMBC went on to build a 5-0 lead before Nick Ceballos recorded the lone tally of the half for Stony Brook. The Retrievers, which held a 7-1 lead at the half, outscored the Seawolves 7-0 in the third to take control of the game.

In the nets, John Dobias made 13 first-half stops to keep Stony Brook in the game, but made just two saves during the 7-0 third quarter run. Kevin Pall and Phil Archabald scored late in the fourth to close out the scoring for Stony Brook.

The Seawolves return home next Saturday to wrap up the 2000 campaign against Penn State. Face-off is 1:00 p.m.
