The Stony Brook women's tennis team won in convincing fashion over Manhattan, 6-1, in the first round of the Seawovles Classic at the SBU Tennis Center Friday afternoon. In the second match, Drexel defeated Hofstra, 4-3.
Martha Barrett was one of four Seawolves to win twice, defeating Courtney James at #2 singles, 6-1, 6-3. She teamed with Karen Hansen for an 8-1 victory in doubles.
Georgia Bushell posted a 6-0, 6-2 win at #3 singls and teamed with Deanna Ghozati for an 8-2 win at #2 doubles. Ghozati was victorious at #4 singles, beating Meghan Smith, 6-1, 6-3. Olesya Ianovitch posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at #5 singles.
The Seawolves will take on Hofstra and Drexel tomorrow as the tournament concludes.
