Maloy Earns America East Volleyball ROW Honor

Stony Brook, NY - Freshman outside hitter Valerie Maloy has been selected as the America East Rookie of the Week for October 9. It marks the second time this season she has earned the award.

The freshman averaged 4.36 kills per game as the Seawolves opened America East Conference play with a 2-1 mark. Maloy had 13 kills against Hartford at home, had 19 at Towson and another 16 at Drexel. The outside-hitter hit .221 on the week, highlighted by a .278 performance at Drexel on Sunday, collecting 16 kills and six errors in 36 attempts. Maloy also had 16 digs and six service aces on the week.

She leads the Seawolves in kills with 3.6 per game and is second in digs with 2.27 per game.

The Seawolves are currently 9-10 overall and hold a 2-1 record in the America East.
