Box Score
Orlando, Fla. -
Well, the early returns are in on the Megan Bryant era and the results are outstanding. Stony Brook won its second straight this afternoon as freshman Lindsay DeLaRosa earned her first collegiate win, pitching a complete-game 4-0 shutout over Vermont.
After enduring a season in which it won only four games, the Stony Brook softball team has won three of its first four outings in the Sunshine State under first-year head coach Megan Bryant.
Again the fourth inning proved to be the charm for Stony Brook. With Tricia Lipareli at second base, Sam Foronjy got the Seawolves on the board, stroking a single that drove home Lipareli. Foronjy advanced to second base on the throw home and was in position to score when Christie McMurray followed with another single that plated Foronjy and SB was up 2-0.
Three batters later, Corinne Vish drove home McMurray and Amanda Staschuk with a single and the Seawolves held a commanding 4-0 lead. DeLaRosa made the score stand up as she struck out seven Catamounts to improve her record to 1-1.
Stony Brook is now 3-1 on the year and will look to continue their winning ways when it returns to action on Wednesday to face Augustana and Southern Connecticut.
